This 1975 Bricklin SV-1 was acquired approximately seven years ago by the current owner and was modified by Fantomworks of Norfolk, Virginia in 2018. Work included lengthening the nose, reinforcing the roof, installing electric actuators for the gullwing doors, and performing a repaint in yellow with a black lower section. The car is powered by a fuel-injected 351ci Ford Windsor V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and additional features include a custom rear wing, air conditioning, a push-button radio, pop-up headlights, and turbine-style aluminum wheels.
Styled by Herb Grasse, the SV-1 features acrylic resin body panels bonded to a fiberglass substrate, which are mounted on a steel perimeter frame equipped with an integrated roll-over structure. An invoice from Fantomworks totaling approximately $90k is available, and work included lengthening the nose of the car, reinforcing the roof and rear impact bumper, aligning the body panels and gullwing doors, replacing the electric door actuators, and performing a repaint in yellow with a black lower section. A custom rear wing has also been installed and features faux rockets mounted on either side.
Turbine-style 15″ aluminum wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The SV-1 utilized braking and suspension components sourced from the AMC Hornet, and this example rides lower than stock on leaf spring drop blocks that were installed in 2018 by Fantomworks. Additional work at that time included replacement of the sway bar bushings, end links, front shocks, and power steering return line.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl with yellow piping along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets lined with Bricklin-branded floor mats. Amenities include air conditioning and a push-button AM/FM radio.
A three-spoke steering wheel with a Bricklin horn button sits ahead of a faux-woodgrain dash panel housing a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer indicates 16k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 351ci Ford Windsor V8 is equipped with FAST electronic fuel injection and an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. Work in 2018 included refurbishing the fuel tank and replacing the smog pump, oxygen sensor, radiator, harmonic balancer, and water pump.
