This 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible spent time in California before acquiring the car in 2008. Equipment includes a black convertible top, 14″ Rally II wheels, power-assisted brakes and steering, a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, a dual exhaust system, a hood-mounted tachometer, air conditioning, and a Delco push-button radio. Originally delivered in Mayfair Maise (Y2), the body was refinished in red under previous ownership. Features include a power-operated black convertible top, a color-matching Endura front bumper, a chrome rear bumper, a hood-mounted tachometer, and a dual exhaust system.
The 14″ Rally II wheels wear chrome trim rings and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel drums.
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Simulated woodgrain trim accents the dash and floor-mounted shifter surround, and additional amenities include air conditioning, front vent windows, lap belts, a center armrest, a locking glove compartment, and a Delco push-button radio.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates 39k miles.
This 400ci V8 was factory rated at 350 horsepower, and induction is handled by a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. An oil change was carried out during fall 2020 and a replacement battery fitted in May 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
Documentation accompanying the car includes manufacturer’s literature, a copy of the car’s order form from PHS, service records, and a reproduction window sticker showing colors, equipment, and initial delivery to Jules Meyers Pontiac of Los Angeles, California, with a $4,425 total price.
