This 1964 Pontiac GTO hardtop was overhauled and rebuilt between 2011 and 2013 by Funkhouser Race Cars in Ramona, California. Highlighting the modifications was the installation of a 6.2-liter LS3 linked to a Tremec five-speed manual and a Strange Engineering Dana 60 rear end with 35-spline chromoly axles, a gear-style locking differential, and 3.55:1 gearing. The car rides on CPP’s ProTouring suspension kit with four-wheel disc brakes and American Racing Salt Flat Special aluminum wheels, and inside there is custom leather upholstery, wool carpeting, Vintage Air climate control, a retro-style head unit with Bluetooth capability, and a tilt steering wheel.
Funkhouser Race Cars in Ramona, California refinished the car in 2011 with a custom gold-and-burgundy paint job as part of the body-off refurbishment.
The car rides on CPP’s ProTouring suspension kit with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and American Racing Salt Flat Special aluminum wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
The bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather upholstery with embossed Pontiac-logo backrests and burgundy piping. Wool carpeting was also installed along with a retro-look stereo with Bluetooth, Vintage Air climate control, and a Hurst Competition/Plus shifter. There is a hidden kill switch inside as well.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and frames Classic Instruments gauges. The 2,300 miles displayed on the odometer represents the distance driven since completion.
The engine installed is said to have been a GM Performance Parts LS376-525 crate motor rated at 525 horsepower. It is topped by a Holley carburetor, and the coated Hedman Husler long-tube headers are linked to a stainless-steel dual exhaust system. The aluminum radiator is cooled by an electric fan, and MSD ignition was also utilized.
A scatter shield is installed over the Centerforce clutch, and the flywheel was machined in 2023 according to the seller. They link the motor to the Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission. Out back, the Strange Engineering Dana 60 features 35-spline chromoly axles, a gear-style locking differential, 3.55:1 gearing, and a 1350-series billet pinion yoke.
Pontiac Historical Services documents and build information is included in the sale.
