This 1980 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans Am is an Indianapolis Pace Car Edition example that was delivered new to Marsh Pontiac, Inc., in Cincinnati, Ohio. Now showing 1,800 miles, the car is finished in Cameo White over Oyster vinyl and is powered by a turbocharged 4.9-liter V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes the WS6 Special Performance Package, 15″ Turbo wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, removable T-top roof panels, a hood-mounted boost gauge, and a rear spoiler as well as air conditioning, a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power windows and locks.
All Pace Car Edition Turbo Trans Ams were finished in Cameo White (11) with Turbo Trans Am and Indianapolis Motor Speedway decals. Additional details include a Trans Am hood decal, a hood-mounted boost gauge, removable glass T-top roof panels, side fender vents, and a three-piece rear spoiler.
White-finished 15″ aluminum Turbo wheels are mounted with 225/70 Uniroyal Steel Belted Radial tires. The vehicle is equipped with power steering as well as the WS6 Special Performance Package, which included power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, a quick-ratio steering box, and a larger sway bar.
The front bucket seats and individual rear seats are upholstered in Oyster vinyl with Hobnail cloth inserts, and they are accompanied by engine-turned trim on the dashboard and center console. Equipment includes a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, a rear window defroster, and power windows and door locks.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and fronts an 85-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage.
The turbocharged 4.9-liter V8 was factory rated at 210 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. The battery was reportedly replaced in 2022, and work performed in preparation for the sale involved rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the spark plugs.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Marsh Pontiac, Inc., in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lists factory colors, equipment, and options. Manufacturer’s literature, an uninstalled vinyl decal set, spare parts, and a car cover are also included in the sale.
