The car is finished in Ascot Gray and features a sunroof, fog lights, dual side mirrors, and ribbed taillight lenses. The Carfax report indicates “minor damage” to the roof and left side of the car in a November 2020 entry.
Silver-finished 14″ Bundt light alloy wheels were manufactured by Fuchs and are mounted with 195/70 Michelin Defender tires. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner.
The cabin features blue MB-Tex upholstery on the front bucket and rear bench seats, a color-matched dashboard and door panels, and Zebrano wood trim. Amenities include power windows, central locking, automatic climate control, a Becker Europa cassette stereo, a locking glovebox, floor mats, and cruise control.
Instrumentation consists of a 125-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer as well as an analog clock and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level.
The 3.0-liter OM617A turbodiesel inline-five was strengthened internally and fitted with additional piston oil squirters to accommodate the higher cylinder pressures and temperatures generated by the Garrett turbocharger. Factory-rated output was 123 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The air conditioning was serviced and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
Manufacturer’s literature and three keys accompany the car. The included window sticker shows initial delivery to Ed Mathieu Imports of Chicago Heights, Illinois, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a total price of $31,596.
A stamped service booklet is included in the sale in addition to individual records.
