This 1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was acquired by the seller from the reported original owner in the mid-2010s and was subsequently modified including the installation of a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 paired with a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear axle with 3.70:1 gears. The car is finished in silver with blue graphics over a blue cloth and vinyl interior with Redline Gauge Works instrumentation and Recaro front seats. Additional equipment includes a BeCool aluminum radiator with electric puller fans, Kooks headers, a Hooker stainless-steel dual exhaust system, Detroit Speed subframe connectors, Ridetech coilovers and four-link rear suspension, front and rear splined sway bars, Corvette C6 Z06 brakes, and Boze Forged 18″ Snowflake wheels.
The car is finished in silver with a “screaming chicken” hood decal and features removable T-top roof panels. Additional exterior equipment includes a shaker hood, fender vents, rear window louvers, and front and rear spoilers.
Boze Forged 18″ Snowflake wheels feature Trans Am center caps and wear Bridgestone Potenza RE760 tires measuring 235/40 up front and 295/35 out back. The car has been modified with Ridetech coilovers and four-link rear suspension along with a quick-ratio steering gear, front and rear splined swaybars, Detroit Speed subframe connectors and mini tubs, stainless flex brake hoses, and Corvette C5 front hubs and bearings. Braking is handled by an upgraded master cylinder and booster along with Corvette C6 Z06-sourced six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers along with drilled rotors at all four corners. A Wilwood brake proportioning valve has been fitted.
The cabin features Recaro bucket seats upholstered in blue cloth and vinyl joined by a matching dash, door panels, carpets, and floor mats. An OBD II port is installed within the ashtray, and additional interior equipment includes an Alpine AM/FM cassette stereo, an ADS six-channel audio amplifier, Jensen speakers, power windows, three-point front seatbelts, and stainless-steel accelerator and brake pedals.
The three-spoke Formula steering wheel sits ahead of an engine-turned instrument panel housing Redline Gauge Works instrumentation consisting of a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The replacement digital odometer reportedly shows 6k kilometers (~4k miles). Total mileage is unknown.
The 6.0-liter LS2 V8 is said to have been modified with a custom camshaft and a trunnion upgrade along with Comp Cams valve springs, pushrods, and retainers. Additional modifications include a BeCool aluminum radiator with electric puller fans as well as an EFI fuel tank and stainless-steel fuel lines.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission, a Driveshaft Shop driveshaft, and a Ford 9″ rear axle with 3.70:1 gears. The car features a transmission cooler, Shiftworks shifter conversion, along with Kooks headers, and a Hooker stainless-steel dual exhaust system.
