This 1978 Porsche 911SC Targa is finished in black over black leather and is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six linked to a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a black Targa top, a MOMO steering wheel, a Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo, and 16″ Fuchs wheels. The car was first delivered to Niello Porsche in Sacramento, California, and was acquired by the current owner in 2015. Work performed under current ownership included a July 2019 engine-out service as well as refurbishing the brake calipers and installing a replacement clutch and flywheel.
The exterior is finished in Black (A1) and features a black Targa bar, a removable roof panel, matte black trim, and body-color headlight rings. Additional equipment includes a front spoiler, a tinted rear window, vinyl side mirror covers, and rear bumperettes.
Black-finished 16″ Fuchs wheels wear polished lips and are mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires that were mounted in 2016. The brake pads were replaced in May 2019, at which time the calipers were also refurbished.
The interior was reupholstered in April 2015 with black leather that was reportedly sourced from GAHH Automotive in North Hollywood, California. The footwells are protected by embroidered Targa floor mats, and additional equipment includes a heater, a fire extinguisher, a Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo, and aftermarket door speakers.
A leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,250-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows just under 127k miles.
The air-cooled 3.0L flat-six was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. An engine-out service was performed in July 2019 at Retro Sport in Berkeley, California, that included replacing the crankshaft seal and valve cover gaskets. A replacement fuel pump and filter were installed in January 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. The clutch and flywheel were replaced in July 2019.
